Frequently Asked Questions
Legal

What are your credentials? Will our marriage be legal?
I am an officially ordained minister through the Universal Life Church Ministries which legally authorizes me to perform weddings in 44 states. I am also an official Notary Public through Montgomery County which authorizes me to legally marry couples in the state of Tennessee.

What documents do we need to get married?
All a couple needs is a valid marriage license and valid photo IDs.

Where do we get a marriage license?
You can pick one up at your local county clerk's office. Please see my Marriage License page for more information.

Fees
What do you charge?
Every wedding ceremony is very different, so prices are quoted after the consultation. An additional fee may apply for travel to a location outside of 20 miles.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes, I respectfully always offer a 10% military discount per client that is active/former military personnel with military issued ID/DD214 (up to 20% max if both partners qualify).

If we choose you to perform our ceremony, do you require a deposit to hold our date?
Yes. If you select me to be your officiant for a full traditional wedding ceremony, I ask that you sign a wedding contract and pay a non-refundable $100 deposit. The balance is due no later than the day of the event, prior to services being rendered.

What payment methods do you accept?
I accept cash or credit/debit cards. I provide a receipt for all payments.

Customization
Do you offer a pre-wedding consultation? If so, is there a fee for this?
When planning a full traditional wedding ceremony, I think it is best to meet for a free in-person consultation. Doing so allows us to get to know each other and ask each other questions. We can arrange to meet at my home office or a mutually-convenient location. Click HERE to schedule a consultation.

If you are only interested in a simple "make-it-legal" ceremony, an in-person consultation isn't necessary. I have created a digital consultation survey that I send to my couples to complete instead.

If we are not religious, can we leave out the religious wording from our ceremony?
Absolutely. Every couple is unique and I work with you to ensure that the wording reflects your relationship and preferences.

Can we write our own vows?
You bet. This is your union and writing your own vows adds a very personal touch. They can be quite moving and are usually very memorable. I can provide some resources and assistance if this is something you are interested in.

Services
What is included in your services?
First, we have a consultation so I can learn your vision. Then, I prepare a custom ceremony based on your needs and wishes. Finally, I perform the ceremony that you approve and afterwards I complete your marriage license. My fee varies depending upon your ceremony and location.

We plan to have a wedding rehearsal, will you be a part of it?
I am happy to be a part of your wedding rehearsal upon request. Rehearsals include practicing the parts of the ceremony that require movement: the processional, hand-off of bouquet, exchange of rings, any special rituals (unity sand, candle lighting, etc.), and the recessional. Practicing these parts greatly help those in the wedding feel more calm and confident on the big day.

What if we don’t plan to have a rehearsal?
That is totally your choice, they are not required. Small, simple weddings can go smoothly without one.

Will you stay for the rehearsal dinner or wedding reception?
Although I really appreciate such generosity, I do not stay for the these extra events. I like to let the couple enjoy the special time with their closest family and friends.
